About the work

Nicozrama is one of Nicoz Balboa’s earliest published works, released by the historic Centro Fumetto “Andrea Pazienza”, a major Italian institution promoting independent and experimental comics.

This publication marked the first official recognition of Nicoz’s visual and narrative universe — a mix of punk energy, intimate storytelling, and queer sensitivity that would later define their artistic signature.

Created in the early 2000s, Nicozrama captures the raw, emotional tone of Nicoz’s beginnings within the underground comics scene in Italy. It bridges fanzine aesthetics with expressive drawing and diary-like narration, revealing the roots of what would later evolve into the Graphic Journal practice.
